Tuskegee University Marching Crimson Piperettes

Tuskegee University's Marching Crimson Pipers band has a long history of excellence. In 1890, Tuskegee Normal School (now Tuskegee University) established the first HBCU band under student direction. In 1906, the band had 35 pieces and an 18-piece orchestra. In 1907, Nathaniel Clark Smith, a retired U.S. Army Major, became the band's first professional director. In 1931, the school of Music was established under William L. Dawson's directorship, with the band becoming part of the new department. In the 1940s, Tuskegee established the School of Music as the Department of Music. In October 2021, the Marching Crimson Pipers stopped performing at school events in protest against the program's condition. The university reached an agreement with the band, and it resumed performing in November 2021 with new uniforms. This compilation highlights the Tuskegee University dance line the Marching Crimson Piperettes.
